'He Walked In And...’ KL Rahul’s Ultimate Praise For MS Dhoni After LSG-CSK Game

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) skipper KL Rahul was unhappy with his team’s bowlers and credited Chennai Super Kings (CSK) wicket-keeper batter MS Dhoni for his quickfire cameo, which led Rahul to comment that his team gave away 15-20 runs extra in the first innings.

Dhoni entered the crease when CSK were at 141/6 after 17.5 overs. His impactful nine-ball 28 propelled the Super Kings to a total of 176/6 in their allotted 20 overs, shifting the momentum in their favor.

Reflecting on Dhoni's influence and the impact he had on the match, Rahul said:

"At the halfway stage, I would have been content with 160. The wicket was sluggish with some grip. However, when MSD stepped in, the pressure mounted on our bowlers. His mere presence has a daunting effect on opposition bowlers. Our young bowlers found themselves under immense pressure, especially with the crowd adding to the intensity. As a result, they ended up conceding 15-20 runs more than we would have liked."

Despite Dhoni's blistering innings, CSK couldn't secure victory as they failed to defend their score. Rahul was the star of the run-chase, crafting a blistering 53-ball 82, comprising nine fours and three sixes at a strike rate of 154.72. He played the pivotal role of anchoring the innings to guide his team to victory.

Rahul and his opening partner Quinton de Kock set the tone with a solid 54-run partnership in the first six overs, providing an excellent start. The duo continued to build on their partnership after the powerplay, maintaining a steady flow of runs. Rahul reached his fifty from just 31 balls. De Kock was eventually dismissed in the 15th over after a 134-run partnership.

Rahul departed for 82 in the 18th over, but Nicholas Pooran finished the game with another quick cameo.
