Punjab Kings’ high-octane run-chase against SRH in match number 23 of IPL 2024 went down to the wire, with Shikhar Dhawan and co. falling short by mere two runs on the last ball.

With Punjab Kings requiring 67 runs from the last four overs and 29 from the final six deliveries; IPL 2024 cult heroes Shashank Singh and Ashutosh Sharma went berserk at the death to make a match out of a seemingly impossible situation.

Interestingly, a major controversy broke out after the match through a viral social media post. The post in question shared a short footage which implied that Punjab Kings were denied a well-deserved win after umpires neglected Jitesh Sharma’s clean six off SRH seamer T Natarajan during the 15th over of the run-chase.

Fortunately for the integrity of IPL 2024, another social media post debunked the theory with intricate and thorough replays.

The truth about PBKS vs SRH revealed

The misleading claim about Jitesh Sharma’s controversial boundary was debunked by another social media post a day after SRH secured a two-run win over hosts Punjab Kings at Mullanpur.

While the original post claimed that Sharma’s close maximum was declared a boundary by the umpires, further intricate replays indicated that the ball had indeed bounced inside the ropes.

Regardless, the outcome marked Punjab Kings’ third defeat of the IPL 2024 season, as they retained their sixth spot on the 10-team points table.

Under the leadership of Shikhar Dhawan, they will now face Rajasthan Royals in match number 27 of the tournament. The much-awaited contest will also be staged at Mullanpur on April 13.
