Match No. 23 of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2024) was a close and highly thrilling encounter between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur, Mohali, Punjab.

PBKS batters Shashank Singh and Ashutosh Sharma again stole the limelight and scored an unbeaten knock of 46 runs off 25 balls and 33 runs off just 15 balls respectively.

After leading Punjab to a memorable victory against Gujarat Titans in the previous match (Match No.17) with a strong partnership, the uncapped players managed to replicate a similar partnership but fell short of just a mere two runs against SRH.

Shashank Singh Appreciates Ashutosh Sharma

Shashank Singh's knock of 46 runs in 25 balls helped Punjab to put up a massive fight against Hyderabad bowlers. Despite being on the losing side, Shashank praised his partner Ashutosh for his quickfire innings.

“Losing a game is disheartening, because we play to win. A loss is a loss, be it by 2 runs or 20 runs. Huge credit to Ashutosh. We both had the belief that we could win it. If 29 runs are needed, the bowler needs to bowl that 1 good ball, which Jaydev did,” said Shashank Singh.

The 'Orange Army' led by Pat Cummins won the watch by just 2 runs. Batting first, SRH managed to score 182 runs. Nitesh Kumar Reddy, 20 years old, became the talk of the town for his blistering knock of 67 runs in 37 balls. He showcased strong hitting smashing five sixes with a good mindset and temperament.

Punjab Kings will play its next match against Rajasthan Royals on April 13, 2024, at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium, Mullanpur.

On the other hand, Sunrisers Hyderabad will play the next fixture against Royal Challengers Bengaluru on April 15, 2024, at the iconic M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru.
