India's opening Test match against New Zealand at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru ended in a historic defeat, marking visitors first Test victory on Indian soil since 1988. Despite India's spirited fightback in the second innings, the visitors chased down the modest target of 107 runs with ease, winning the game by eight wickets.

The result gave New Zealand their third-ever Test win in India, capping a remarkable achievement after nearly seven decades of challenging performances on the subcontinent.

India's Average Performance In 1st Test

One of the key talking points of the match was India's disappointing start with the bat. After winning the toss and opting to bat first, the home side was bowled out for a meager 46 runs. New Zealand capitalized, putting up a commanding total of 402 runs in response. India bounced back in the second innings, posting a much-improved 462 runs, but it wasn't enough to stave off defeat as New Zealand chased down their target with minimal fuss.

Wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant’s near-century in India’s second innings was particularly significant among the many standout performances. He came agonizingly close to reaching a well-deserved hundred but was dismissed it.

Rishabh Pant Shares Heartfelt Post

Following the defeat, Pant took to social media to express his thoughts, posting a motivational message to his followers on X (formerly Twitter). His Tweet resonated with the Bengaluru crowd and cricket fans, who were disappointed with the outcome but appreciative of the team's effort to bounce back in the second innings.

Pant tweeted: "This game will test your limits, knock you down, lift you up, and throw you back again. But those who love it rise stronger every time. Thanks to the amazing Bengaluru crowd for the love, support, and cheers. We will be back stronger."

With two more Tests to go in the series, India will be keen to regroup and take lessons from the loss. As the teams prepare for the second Test, India’s focus will be on turning the tables and restoring confidence in their home conditions, while New Zealand will aim to build on the momentum of their historic win.
