Women's Big Bash League (WBBL) club Sydney Thunder has roped in the services of England opener Tammy Beaumont for the upcoming 2022 edition. Beaumont was a part of the Thunder's side during their title-winning run in WBBL 06, where they defeated the Brisbane Heat.

In 15 WBBL matches for the Thunder, the 31-year-old has scored 209 runs. Overall, in 55 WBBL appearances, she has amassed 1,063 runs, with four fifties. She represented the Adelaide Strikers in WBBL 02 and 03 while playing for the Melbourne Renegades in WBBL 05.

The English opener is coming off a not-so-productive season in The Hundred Women's 2022 competition, scoring just 138 runs for the Welsh Fire.

Beaumont talked about her past association with Thunder and sounded pleased with coming back to Stars.

"I’ve obviously got brilliant memories of 2020. Not only did we win the competition, but the group of girls I got to spend day-in, day-out with,"

"I had the best six weeks, and it’s an exciting opportunity for me to come back and play for the Thunder again.”

Coach Trevor Griffin, too, welcomed Beaumont, hoping the player will add depth to an already rich squad.

"Tammy was part of our 2020 winning team. She has a wealth of international experience, and her vast bank of knowledge allows her to provide Rachael Haynes with some support out on the park."
