Smriti Mandhana expressed her delight to contribute to the team's win in the second T20I against England on Tuesday (13 September) at Derby.

Riding on confidence by winning the first game, England won the toss and opted to bat first. However, they were rocked by three quick strikes by India, which sent back their key batters, back to the hut.

Soon, they were stuttering at 54/5. Nevertheless, it was a superb effort from Freya Kemp (51*) and Maia Bouchier (34), which saw England posting 142.

In response to the chase, Mandhana and Shafali Verma were terrific adding 55 runs in the powerplay overs. After being stranded at the other-end amid the dismissals of Verma and Dayalan Hemalatha, Mandhana got much-needed support from captain Harmanpreet Kaur.

The southpaw was imperious with her sublime shots to remain unbeaten on 79* off 53, while Kaur hit 29*. The duo chased down the score, with 20 balls to spare and levelled the series 1-1.

Here is what Mandhana said:

"Yeah, it is good to be among runs. After the defeat in the previous fixture, we wanted to make a good comeback. That is what we did tonight. Happy to contribute to the team for a winning cause as well.

"Yeah, it was set up by our bowlers initially. A great job by them. Haha, I feel good batting here. Nothing different in the approach, but yeah, there is a slight adjustment in the shot selection. "
