Virat Kohli arrived in Sri Lanka for India's upcoming ODI series on July 29, 2024, Monday. He kickstarted the practice session in Colombo amid earlier speculations about his participation. 

Following the practice session in a recent video that is going viral on the internet, Kohli engaged warmly with fans, as he greeted both Indian and Sri Lankan supporters and took pictures with them. 

His interaction brought smiles to many as he left the stadium where fans had patiently waited for him.

He makes his return to the ODIs after November 2023 and will aim to get in the groove. He boasts a great record against Sri Lanka in the ODI format and will look to only better it in the series.

The ODI series between India and Sri Lanka is set to start on August 2, 2024, with all matches scheduled to be played at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. Virat Kohli will be joined by Rohit Sharma, who will return to lead the Indian team. He will mark his first series as captain under the new head coach Gautam Gambhir.

Recently, India has defeated Sri Lanka in the T20I series which was also Gautam Gambhir's debut as head coach and Suryakumar Yadav's debut as captain. 

With Rohit Sharma taking over the captaincy for the ODI series, his experience is expected to bring stability and strength to the team in the 50-over format.
