Leading Indian broadcasters Star Sports on Sunday (March 17) unveiled a special promo to set the stage alight for MS Dhoni's much-awaited return to playing duties via the forthcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). 

As India and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) legend ends a year-long wait for his return to the cricket field via IPL 2024, Star Sports revealed an amusing clip to celebrate Super Kings' great skipper and wicketkeeper-batter, under whose captaincy they've won five IPL titles. 

The exciting promo featured glimpses of Dhoni excelling as player and captain for the Super Kings in the past 14 campaigns of the IPL, out of which the defending champions have reached the playoffs on 12 instances - most by any franchise in the history of the annual T20 carnival. 


Star Sports Promo For MS Dhoni's IPL Return 

Dhoni, whose last competitive game of cricket was the final of the IPL 2023 when his Chepauk brigade defeated the previous year's winners Gujarat Titans (GT) in a thriller for the ages in Ahmedabad, will be making a comeback via the opening game of IPL 2024 against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). 

The 42-year-old is fit and feeling rejuvenated after undergoing a prolonged rehabilitation programme for his knee surgery over an injury that affected him throughout the last campaign. 

Despite feeling discomfort in his leg, Dhoni gave his best behind the stumps and also belted the ball out of the park whenever the opportunity arrived. 

Speculations are rife if this could be the man's last IPL and final assignment in competitive cricket. But as always Dhoni has maintained a tight lip about his future, having faced the retirement question ever since the 2020 edition of the league, which was his first for CSK after announcing his exit from the international scene for India.
