The IPL is knocking on the door and the captains are ready to carry their teams on their shoulders for the upcoming season. While many franchises see the same captains, most of the teams are under a new leadership.
In a recent video released by IPL's official social media handle, the captains of each IPL team were seen announcing their tone for the game with crisp one-liners.
Captains Excited As Samson, Gaikwad make Bold Claim
The video sees Shreyas Iyer in front of the trophy as he said "You saw me lifting the trophy in 2024 and in 2025..." Then came Pat Cummins' silent swagger where he just ticked off his achievements as Australia captain and wishes to do the same for his IPL franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad as well.
The main highlight of the video however was the raw enthusiasm of Sanju Samson and Ruturaj Gaikwad who gave a bold statement to all the doubters doubting their IPL title win this year.
Samson threw a bold challenge to the face of critics as he said, "Underdogs, really? We started the fairytale in 2008. Don't forget, we are the OGs." Notably, Rajasthan Royals won their maiden IPL title in the inaugural edition of the league back in 2008 and only came near the trophy as runner-up in 2022.
Contrary to them, Ruturaj Gaikwad who has been crowned the CSK King the previous year was also oozing enthusiasm as he remarked, "No hype and no fuzz. Just some whistle and lots of dominance."
Though Gaikwad has been unsuccessful in pushing the Yellow camp towards the playoffs, the five-time IPL winning team will aim to replicate their past heroics this IPL season.
Captains Ready To Rock The Stage!
Other captains, like LSG's Rishabh Pant and Delhi's Axar Patel, were also cheeky with their comments. As the latter said, "Control humesha desh ke rajdhani se hota hai. This time, I will call the shots."
Nevertheless, earlier, BCCI also released a video where the captains described their captaincy style and feelings for the league in just three words. With captains excited, teams are ready to up the ante as the season opens with KKR and RCB at Eden Gardens on March 22.
