Indian captain Rohit Sharma received a heartwarming and memorable welcome from his family and childhood friends, including Mumbai Indians teammate Tilak Varma, after leading India to victory in the T20 World Cup 2024.
The celebrations began as soon as Rohit and his teammates returned to India. Despite the delay, the BCCI managed to fly the World Cup heroes back home on Thursday.
After landing in Delhi, the Indian players had a special breakfast with PM Narendra Modi before heading to Mumbai, where they participated in a jubilant victory parade and were enthusiastically greeted by fans along Marine Drive.
The team then made their way to the iconic Wankhede Stadium, where fans and players united in singing 'Vande Mataram'.
The BCCI also honoured the players with a grand felicitation ceremony and a whopping prize money of INR 125 crores.

The highlight of the day came when Rohit Sharma returned to his house. His family, childhood friends, and Tilak Varma, all clad in "Rohit Sharma" T-shirts, had planned a special surprise for him.
The group danced and lifted the World Cup-winning captain on their shoulders, creating a viral moment that captured the essence of their joy and pride.
The celebrations didn't end there. On Friday, Rohit Sharma and other team members, including Suryakumar Yadav, Shivam Dube, and Yashasvi Jaiswal, were invited by Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde to the Maharashtra Assembly.
Having announced his T20I retirement, Rohit Sharma plans to soak in all the jubilation and spend quality time with his family.
