Just before the IPL 2024, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) brought in England’s wicket-keeper batsman Phil Salt to their roster as a replacement for Jason Roy, who made himself unavailable for the coming edition due to personal reasons.

It seemed to be a blessing in disguise for the Purple and Gold Brigade, as Salt has been in ravishing form just before the tournament begins. In fact, the manner in which he blasted his teammates in an intra squad match for KKR, suggested that he desperately wants a place in the playing XI, and rightly so.

KKR posted a video of Salt hitting all around the park, mainly targeting the spinners at Eden Gardens. The Englishman smashed an unbeaten 78-run knock, in which Chetan Sakariya, Suyash Sharma, and Anukul Roy, among others were all hammered in a nonchalant manner.

KKR have quite a few wicket-keeping options to choose from, with Salt in line alongside Rahmanullah Gurbaz and KS Bharat. With the rich vein of form Salt has been in, don’t be surprised if he gets an automatic place in the playing XI from the very beginning when KKR will begin their IPL 2024 campaign against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on March 23.
