Even before the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 kicked off at the National Stadium in Karachi, the venues were already under scrutiny. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) kept missing deadlines to prepare the stadiums, and now that the tournament is underway, fans are not happy with their experience.

Pakistan actor and producer Adnan Siddiqui was one of those disappointed fans when he attended Pakistan’s opening match against New Zealand on Wednesday. With the stadium already receiving criticism for low spectator turnout, Siddiqui shared a video on social media expressing his frustration.

In his video, Siddiqui showed how the so-called 'VIP' area had railings blocking the view of the field. He sarcastically remarked that the distance from his seat to the pitch made it feel like he was watching the match from Dubai.

"Main aya hoon stadium pe. Ab mujhe ye bataiye, itna mehnga ticket le, aur aankh ke samne ye ho, aur aage woh shadow, to kya nazar ayega..ghanta! Aur dusri zabardast baat batau aapko, aisa lag raha hai ke main Dubai mein baith ke yeh match dekh raha hoon," he captioned the clip.

Pakistan's Tough Start in the Tournament

New Zealand outplayed Pakistan in the opening match, winning by 60 runs. Tom Latham and Will Young’s brilliant centuries helped New Zealand post a solid total of 320/5 in 50 overs. In response, Pakistan was bowled out for 260 in 47.2 overs, lacking the batting intent needed to chase the target.

This defeat has put Pakistan in a tough spot. To stay in the tournament, they now have to win both of their remaining group-stage matches. Up next, they face their biggest challenge—a high-stakes clash against arch-rivals India in Dubai on February 23. With everything on the line, Pakistan must bring their A-game to keep their Champions Trophy hopes alive.
