In a significant development, Pakistan have dealt a heavy blow as there are reports that star batter Fakhar Zaman is likely to be ruled out of Champions Trophy because of injury. The southpaw suffered a muscular sprain on the 2nd ball of the opening match of the tournament, that saw him leave the field in pain.

According to a report from Geo TV correspondent, Sohail Imran, Fakhar will miss the remainder of the tournament because of the injury. The same report added that Imam-Ul-Haq is all set to replace Zaman in Pakistan's squad.

Further, Fakhar will not be travelling to Dubai with the team, further hinting at changes within the team. With Zaman ruled out, Pakistan are without a regular opener in the team.

Fakhar Plays Despite Injury For Pakistan

Fakhar was out of the field for most of the match against New Zealand but returned in the 35th over of the match. Although, due to ICC rules, Zaman could not open the innings for the Men in Green and had to come to bat at No.4.

It was evident that Fakhar was struggling as he returned to the pavilion with a low score of 24 (41), which featured four fours. Eventually, Pakistan went on to suffer a 60-runs defeat to start the campaign on a low note.

Talking about Imam-ul-Haq, the 29-year-old has been out of the team since 2023. His last ODI for Pakistan came in October 2023 during the World Cup in India. It is to be seen when will the PCB make the official information regarding Fakhar Zaman's injury and his replacement.

Further, the Men in Green will lock horns against India on February 23 at the Dubai International Stadium.
