As India prepare for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 in Dubai, all eyes will be on Kohli to deliver another remarkable performance. Currently, Kohli has five 50+ scores in the Champions Trophy. The record for most 50+ scores in the tournament is held by Shikhar Dhawan, Sourav Ganguly, and Rahul Dravid, who each have six. Since India are guaranteed at least three matches in this edition, Kohli has a great chance to match or even surpass this record.

2. Fastest to 14,000 Runs in ODIs

As of now, Kohli has scored 13,963 runs in 297 ODIs. He needs just 37 more runs to reach the 14,000-run mark. If he achieves this in the Champions Trophy, he will become the fastest player in history to reach this milestone.

3. Third-Highest Run Scorer In International Cricket

The right-handed batter has played 545 matches across all formats since making his debut in 2008, scoring a total of 27,381 runs. If he scores at least 103 runs in the Champions Trophy, he will surpass Australian legend Ricky Ponting and become the third-highest run-scorer in international cricket history.

4. Leading Run Scorer in Champions Trophy History

Among active players, Kohli is already the highest run-getter in Champions Trophy history with 529 runs. If he scores 263 more runs in this edition, he will break Chris Gayle’s record of 791 runs and become the all-time leading run scorer in the tournament.

5. Player To Win The Most ICC Titles

Ricky Ponting currently holds the record for most ICC trophies, winning five titles. However, Virat Kohli has a chance to match this feat if India wins the 2025 Champions Trophy. 

Kohli has already secured four ICC titles—the Under-19 WC (2008), ODI WC (2011), Champions Trophy (2013), and T20 WC (2024). A victory in 2025 would make him the joint-most successful player in ICC tournaments alongside Ponting.
