MS Dhoni, one of the most loved cricketers in the world, has finally revealed his plans for IPL 2025. The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) legend confirmed that he will continue playing in the Indian Premier League (IPL) at the age of 43. Despite retiring from international cricket six years ago, Dhoni remains a key figure in franchise cricket and is set to represent CSK for the 16th time.

There has been a lot of speculation about Dhoni’s future in the game, and he has now given a clear answer. Speaking at the launch of his new app, powered by Single.id, he shared his approach to the upcoming season.

“I’ve retired since 2019, so it’s been quite some time. What I’ve been doing in the meantime is just enjoying cricket for the last few years that I can still play,” Dhoni said.

He further added that he wants to relive the joy of playing cricket like he did as a child.

“When I was in school, 4 o’clock was sports time. We used to play cricket unless the weather didn’t allow, then we played football. I want to play with the same kind of innocence… but it is easier said than done,” he remarked.

Dhoni is widely regarded as one of the greatest captains in cricket history. Under his leadership, India won the 2007 T20 World Cup, the 2011 ODI World Cup, and the 2013 Champions Trophy, making him the only captain to win three different ICC white-ball trophies. He also led India to victories in the 2010 and 2016 Asia Cups and was part of the 2018 winning squad.

MS Dhoni To Play IPL 2025

For the IPL 2025 season, Dhoni has been retained for ₹4 crore, the lowest salary he has received in IPL history. This is due to a recent rule change by the BCCI. According to the new policy, any player who hasn’t played international cricket for five or more years is classified as an uncapped player.

Since Dhoni’s last international appearance was in the 2019 ODI World Cup semi-final, he now falls under this category, which directly impacted his IPL salary. Despite this, his value to CSK remains priceless, as his experience and leadership continue to be crucial for the team.
