The Nepal senior team is set to sharpen its skills in the T20I format at the upcoming 'Friendship Cup,' a tri-series event featuring Baroda and Gujarat, to be held in Vapi from March 31 to April 7.

This announcement comes from the cricket governing body, marking a significant step in Nepal's preparation for the T20 World Cup slated for June this year in the United States and West Indies.

Nepal's preparations for T20 WC 2024 boosted by BCCI-supported tri-series

Kicking off the series on March 31, Nepal will face Gujarat in the opening match, setting the stage for a series of competitive clashes. The schedule includes a match between Gujarat and Baroda on April 1, followed by Nepal's showdown with Baroda on April 2.

The teams will continue to battle it out, leading up to the final on April 7, promising cricket fans a week filled with exciting T20 action.

Currently holding the 16th position in the ICC men’s T20I rankings, Nepal is utilizing the tri-series as a crucial part of their preparation for the world stage. The team has been drawn into Group D for the T20 World Cup, alongside heavyweights like South Africa, Bangladesh, the Netherlands, and the 2014 champions, Sri Lanka.

Nepal is scheduled to begin its campaign against the Netherlands on June 5 at the Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas, with subsequent matches against Sri Lanka, South Africa, and Bangladesh. This year marks Nepal's second appearance in the Men’s T20 World Cup, a decade after their debut in the 2014 edition.

The T20 World Cup 2024 has expanded the competition to include 20 teams, divided into four groups of five, with the top two from each group progressing to the Super 8 stage. The subsequent rounds will further whittle down the contenders, culminating in the semifinals on June 26 and 27, and the grand finale on June 29 in Barbados.

With 55 matches set to unfold across nine venues, the tournament promises to be a thrilling showcase of the world's T20 cricket talent.
