Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) captain and opening batsman KL Rahul fine-tuned his wicketkeeping skills ahead of his team’s IPL 2024 match against Rajasthan Royals.

Set to lead his side on March 24 at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Rajasthan, the cricketer was involved in an intense training session alongside the rest of his teammates.

The match against Rajasthan Royals will also mark KL Rahul’s return to competitive cricket after he was ruled out of India’s Test series against England owing to a quadriceps injury.

KL Rahul set to keep wickets after return from injury

After being forced out of India’s squad after the Hyderabad Test against England back in January this year, KL Rahul is set to make his return to competitive cricket by leading LSG in the IPL 2024 season.

Ahead of his team’s opening match of the tournament against Rajasthan Royals, Rahul engaged himself in an intense training session where he enhanced his wicketkeeping skill-set alongside his teammates.

KL Rahul donning the wicketkeeping gloves again pretty much confirms that the cricketer will be keeping wickets for the LSG franchise this IPL 2024 season. During his injury layoff, several rumors had suggested that the 32-year-old might only feature this IPL primarily as a batter.

The match against Rajasthan Royals also marks KL Rahul’s return back to the LSG setup. Last year during the IPL 2023 season, the senior top-order batter was ruled out midway from the tournament after he coped a significant hamstring injury while fielding.

His subsequent absence prompted the LSG franchise to appoint Krunal Pandya as his replacement skipper instead.

Rahul will now be seen leading the LSG group against Rajasthan Royals at Rajasthan’s Sawai Mansingh Stadium on March 24, in match number four of the IPL 2024 season.
