Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) raised the excitement brewing in the air for Virat Kohli's return to Indian shores from London ahead of the 17th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) with an interesting clip. 

Kohli landed in India from England on Sunday (March 17) ahead of RCB's IPL 2024 opening-day clash against defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on March 22 after spending the past few weeks there due to the birth of his second child 'Akaay'. 

The batting legend had social media buzzing for his comeback when he was seen at the Mumbai airport, from where he was scheduled to be travelling to join the rest of the RCB playing contingent and enter a short pre-season training camp before the first encounter with CSK. 

RCB Raises Excitement On Kohli Return 

RCB indicated Kohli may have already joined the squad via an amusing promo clip, featuring the legend's return to India with fans waiting for a long time to catch his glimpse on the cricket field. 

The 35-year-old hasn't played any form of competitive cricket since January when he announced his paternity leave ahead of the five-Test series against England. 

At the time, it wasn't clear why the cricketer is asking for a break, with a BCCI press release only mentioning that Kohli was out due to "personal reasons". Reports then emerged that the player is in London with his wife and film star Anushka Sharma and soon it became official that the couple have given birth to their second child. 

The IPL 2024 will therefore be Kohli's comeback assignment in competitive cricket, one that the great batter would be geared up for and determined to score plenty of runs before travelling to the Caribbean & USA with Team India for the marquee ICC T20 World Cup 2024.
