Harshit Rana was recently teased by his Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) teammate Nitish Rana during a Lucknow-bound flight. Ahead of KKR’s away IPL 2024 clash against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), the 22-year-old was jokingly asked to display his “flying kiss” celebration, one which got him in trouble earlier this season.

Harshit Rana was banned for KKR’s away match against Mumbai Indians earlier this week for breaching IPL’s code of conduct. The cricketer was handed the harsh penalty because of the flying-kiss celebration and the angry sendoff he gave to Delhi Capitals’ Abhishek Porel.

Harshit was also penalized earlier in IPL 2024 for aggressively celebrating the wicket of SRH top-order batter Mayank Agarwal.

As he was making his way to Lucknow for KKR’s away game against LSG, the 22-year-old was teased by senior teammate Nitish Rana to imitate his “flying kiss” celebration during a team flight. A visibly shy Harshit laughingly declined to do so, thus evoking much laughter among nearby KKR peers.

Harshit Rana ended up making his return to KKR’s playing XI for their match against LSG on May 5. The speedster celebrated his return by picking up a match-winning three-wicket haul. He claimed the key wickets of LSG skipper KL Rahul, star all-rounder Krunal Pandya and tailender Ravi Bishnoi to finish with figures of 3-24 from 3.1 overs.

Harshit’s spell, coupled with Varun Chakravarthy’s three-fer and an attacking 81 from Sunil Narine with the bat emboldened KKR to flatten LSG by 98 runs. The outcome helped KKR dethrone Rajasthan Royals from the top of the IPL 2024 points table.

Harshit Rana will now be seen reprising his role for KKR along with the rest of his teammates in their match against Mumbai Indians on May 11.
