Among the heartfelt messages, Gautam Gambhir, Dhoni's former teammate, shared a special video tribute via Star Sports.

"Lot's of captains will come and go but it will be hard to match MS Dhoni's record for the Indian team. You can become number 1 in Tests, you can win overseas matches. But to lift two ICC World Cups and one Champions Trophy, there is no bigger achievement than this," said Gambhir.

"We shared the biggest moments together, I was part of those moments. Whether being a part of the T20 World Cup, ODI World Cup, winning the CB series in Australia, winning Test series in New Zealand, drawing Test series in South Africa, winning the Asia Cup, I can't mention one. He's probably the best captain India has ever had," he added.

Dhoni, who typically maintains a low profile on social media, recently broke his silence to thank the Indian team for their T20 World Cup 2024 victory

He referred to their win as the ultimate birthday present, reflecting his passion and pride for Indian cricket.

Although Dhoni retired from international cricket on August 15, 2020, he continued leading the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) until IPL 2024 when Ruturaj Gaikwad succeeded him.

Despite facing knee injuries and the inevitable challenges of aging, Dhoni remains a central figure in the cricket world. His loyal fan base eagerly anticipates his participation in IPL 2025.
