Babar Azam To Become Pakistan Captain Again? PAK Journalist Drops Bombshell Claim

Pakistan cricket, under the new leadership of PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi, is expected to undergo significant changes in the coming weeks. However, a Pakistan sports journalist reported that Naqvi could reappoint Babar Azam as the captain of the Pakistan cricket team just months after the batter called it quits.

Babar Azam endured the most difficult phase of his career when Pakistan got knocked out of the ODI World Cup under his leadership. He was made the scapegoat as the entire blame for the humiliating campaign fell on Azam’s shoulders.

Meanwhile, Babar Azam couldn’t take the heat as he relinquished captaincy duties across all formats and submitted resignations to former PCB chief Zaka Ashraf just days after the ODI World Cup exit.

Accordingly, Shan Masood and Shaheen Shah Afridi took over as Test and T20 format captains, respectively.

Meanwhile, Pakistan cricket is set to witness a significant change as the PCB appointed a new chairman, Mohsin Naqvi, earlier today. Naqvi has promised to fix things currently bothering Pakistan cricket and ensure a smooth transition of power.

Amid this, Pakistan journalist Qadir Khawaja has made a bold claim on social media. Qadir has claimed that Naqvi is an avid supporter of Babar Azam and deemed the entire captaincy fiasco unnecessary. Khawaja suggests Babar could possibly return as the captain of the senior Pakistan cricket team under the new regime of Naqvi.

Having said that, these rumors are mere conjectures at this point, and no confirmation about Babar Azam’s alleged return to the captaincy role has been conveyed by the PCB authorities.

Mohsin Naqvi just resumed office as PCB chairman a few hours ago, and it’s highly unlikely any official decision of this magnitude could have been passed on by Naqvi at such short notice and without proper consultation.

Currently, Babar Azam is happy with his role as a specialist batter and previously claimed that he chose to quit captaincy at his own will.
