Mumbai Indians crashed to a four-wicket defeat at the hands of Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at Lucknow on April 30. Notably, the match also coincided with Rohit Sharma’s 37th birthday.

After the game, Sharma was spotted interacting with former Indian teammate and active LSG spinner Amit Mishra. At one point of their interaction, the Mumbai Indians opener even jokingly poked fun at Mishra’s seniority over him.

Rohit Sharma surprised by ageless Amit Mishra

Rohit Sharma, who celebrated his 37th birthday on April 30, asked LSG’s Amit Mishra about his age. When Mishra said that he was 41, the Mumbai Indians opener responded with a hilarious reaction as he expressed his surprise over the spinner’s seniority.

Rohit Sharma even jokingly claimed that some of the players were in their “nappies” when Mishra made his international debut for Team India back in 2003.

As it panned out, Mumbai Indians batted first and charted 144-7 in the game. Opener Ishan Kishan and Tim David slapped crucial 30s while Nehal Wadhera top-scored in the innings with a fluent 46.

Their famed batting line-up was strangled by Mohsin Khan (2-36) and also through the courtesies of timely breakthroughs from Marcus Stoinis, Mayank Yadav, Ravi Bishnoi and Naveen-ul-Haq.

Later in the game, Stoinis bashed a 45-ball 62 before Nicholas Pooran’s composed 14* steered LSG past Mumbai Indians total with ease.

Rohit Sharma will now travel back to Mumbai to face the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in match number 51 of the IPL 2024 season on May 3.
