Former India opener Aakash Chopra recently shared a rib-tickling fan-generated meme on his YouTube channel, using it to humorously illustrate how India's batting sensation, Shubman Gill, outperformed Pakistan pacer, Shaheen Afridi, in the Super 4 encounter.

The meme, originally from the beloved cartoon show ‘Tom and Jerry’, cleverly swaps the faces of Shubman Gill with Tom and Shaheen Afridi onto Jerry. This amusing edit humorously mirrors Gill's dominance over the Pakistan pacer in their face-off on Sunday, September 10 in Colombo.

The Punjab batter scored a 52-ball 58 as India posted 147/2 in 24.1 overs in Colombo before rain interrupted the game, before eventually ending their innings on a high with 356/2. The cricketer-turned-commentator showered praises on Gill for launching a brutal attack on Shaheen Shah Afridi.

However, Chopra did admit that the opening batter enjoyed a bit of luck during his time at the crease, conceding:

"Rohit Sharma was going slow and Shubman Gill took the attack to Shaheen Shah Afridi from the other end. He used his feet while playing against Shaheen Afridi. He played with a little positive intent. The shot he hit in the air straight down the ground was extremely good."

"The sort of form Shubman Gill was in, he looked almost like a million dollars. He batted extremely well but luck was also in his favor. The first ball Naseem Shah bowled to Shubman, Shaheen Shah Afridi was standing in the deep. If there had been a better fielder, he would have taken the catch."

Notably, Gill got a lifeline when Shaheen Afridi dropped a catch at third man off Naseem Shah's first ball to him. The Pakistani left-arm seamer soon regretted it, as the young Indian player made him pay with six boundaries in the next two overs.

Nevertheless, riding on centuries from Virat Kohli and KL Rahul and half-centuries by Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill, India posted a mammoth total of 356/2 against arch-rivals Pakistan in Colombo.
