Shardul Thakur struck immediately after coming from the rain break on Monday in India’s Asia Cup Super Four match against Pakistan at R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. The right-arm quick, who has a knack for picking up wickets at regular intervals, bowled a jaffa to dismiss Mohammad Rizwan, who was not out on 63 in Pakistan's previous match against Bangladesh.

Shardul pitched a good length on a four-stump line that shaped away from Rizwan late. Rizwan attempted to push it towards the mid-point, only to find a thin outside edge that went straight behind him. KL Rahul made no mistakes with the big gloves and completed his wicket with a simple catch.

Needless to say, Pakistan were in big trouble as soon as Rizwan was out. The Men in Green had already lost Babar Azam and Imam-ul-Haq, and Rizwan's departure reduced their chances of chasing a mammoth 357 against arch-rivals.

For India, Jasprit Bumrah drew the first blood, dismissing Imam with a jaffa. Hardik joined hands later on, snaring the 'big-fish' Babar Azam with a wonderful inswinger.

At the time of writing, Pakistan are struggling at 61/3 after 14 overs, with Fakhar Zaman and Agha Salman in the middle, on 17* and 8* respectively.
