According to emerging reports, former captain and coach Waqar Younis will likely be given a key role in the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to govern cricketing matters. PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi is considering appointing the legendary cricketer to shoulder cricket-related responsibilities.


PCB chief considers power-shifting; Waqar to be roped in

As reported by several Pakistani media outlets, particularly Cricket Pakistan, Mohsin Naqvi has received massive backlash for handling multiple departments. He has also been accused of neglecting his duties towards the betterment of Pakistan cricket. 

In such a scenario, the PCB chief has apparently decided to appoint the iconic pacer as his representative. 

If Waqar Younis is given this responsibility, he will take the cricketing decisions, with Naqvi managing the administrative functions. 

The bowling great will take the board's cricket-related calls while also having the final say in numerous matters concerning domestic and international cricket, the selection committee, and the issuance of No Objection Certificates (NOCs) for players. 

As reported earlier, Naqvi is the front-runner to replace BCCI secretary Jay Shah as president of the Asian Cricket Council. 

Therefore, considering he will be leading multiple bodies, Waqar's appointment could be a great strategy for the betterment of Pakistan cricket.
