In a significant development, Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Mohsin Naqvi could be appointed president of the Asian Cricket Council. Naqvi is also one of Pakistan's interior ministers.

If he takes over as the ACC president, he will replace BCCI secretary Jay Shah, who might be elected as the ICC Chairman

BCCI secretary Jay Shah is serving as the ACC president after his term was extended by one year in January.

According to Cricket Pakistan, Naqvi is the front-runner to replace Shah as the next ACC chief after the latter's tenure ends in January 2025.

The ACC president's appointment is made through a rotational policy among the member boards. As the report claims, Naqvi, who is set to become the next ACC head, will hold the position for two years.

Thus, besides serving as the PCB chief and interior minister, Naqvi will have an additional department under him, making him one of the most influential administrators in the cricketing world.

Although an official word on this matter is yet to come, the ACC will likely make a formal announcement about its new president at the next meeting in October-November.
