Waqar Younis Joins Mohsin Naqvi; PCB Appoints PAK Legend As Adviser for Cricket Affairs

Waqar Younis, former cricket captain of the Pakistan team, has assumed the significant role of Adviser for Cricket Affairs to the PCB chairman, Mohsin Naqvi.

Naqvi has designated Younis with the first task of managing cricket-related matters, starting with the highly anticipated upcoming two-match Test series against Bangladesh. Meanwhile, Naqvi will remain in charge of the Pakistan cricket board's administrative responsibilities.

He is expected to collaborate closely with the selectors and coaches for the upcoming series starting on August 21, fostering a sense of teamwork and shared responsibility.

On the other hand, Naqvi's attention will be on the administrative preparations for the upcoming 2025 Champions Trophy, which Pakistan will host in February-March next year.

As per the PCB Constitution of 2014, the Chairman has the authority to delegate his powers, allowing Younis to make all team-related decisions.

Meanwhile, the Pakistani team has been in turbulent waters with no sense of direction. There have been numerous shifts in terms of management time and again over the past year. 

Now, with their poor World Cup campaign, things once again look uncertain, as it has been understood the team would be looking for a new skipper in place of Babar Azam.
