The Indian Premier League has always been the stage where new players have got the scope to showcase their talents and find their way into the biggest stage of the game. The IPL 2025 has also brought into Indian cricket horizon some ground breaking talents who could emerge as the future superstars.

With the dawn of new talents, the old pillars need to leave their spot. The IPL 2025 performance of some players might lead to lose them their spot in the Indian T20I cricket team.

3. Mohammed Shami

IPL 2025 Performance - Matches: 9 Wickets: 6 Economy Rate: 11.23 Average: 56.16

The pacer was a part of the last Indian T20I squad that played against England. However, Mohammed Shami did not have a great time in IPL 2025. He was a part of the SRH squad for the season.

Shami has played nine matches in the tournament and failed by miles to be as impactful as he is known to be. While he has not been able to pick up wickets, he has also conceded runs at an economy of 11.23 and has picked up a wicket every nine overs.

Given the failure in effectivity he has shown in this edition of the Indian Premier League, Shami can face the axe of the Indian selectors.

2. Shivam Dube

IPL 2025 Performance - Matches: 12 Runs: 340 Average: 34.00 Strike Rate: 129.77

Chennai Super Kings as a team had a horrible season in IPL 2025. However, among the batters, Shivam Dube delivered runs on a consistent basis. But those runs felt to leave the impact that was expected from him.

A strike rate of 129.77 is below par as far as modern T20 game is considered. Given the shift in strategy India's approach to T20, there is a little chance that a middle order batter who is scoring at a rate below 130 will get a chance in the set up.

1. Sanju Samson

IPL 2025 Performance - Matches: 9 Runs: 285 Average: 35.62 Strike Rate: 140.39

Sanju Samson was seen opening the innings for India in the England series. Although, he failed to score runs during series, there has never been a doubt about the class he has. Given the inconsistent displays by Samson in international stage, IPL 2025 was crucial for him to prove a point to the Indian selectors.

In IPL 2025, Sanju Samson was absent for some games due to injury. He ended up playing 9 matches in the tournament. In these nine games, Samson scored 285 runs at an average of 35.62 at a strike rate of 140.39.

The numbers are not bad, and it would be unfortunate to judge him based on the performance in one series. However, with the rise of dynamic batters like Prabhsimran Singh, Priyansh Arya and Ayush Mhatre can put his place in danger.
