Indian fast bowler, Abhimanyu Mithun has sparked a huge controversy after bowling a bizarre no-ball during the Abu Dhabi T10 League encounter on Sunday. Playing for Northern Warriors, Mithun bowled a huge no-ball against the Chennai Braves and, thereby, raised a lot of eyeballs.

After claiming the wicket of Bhanuka Rajapaksa in the 5th over, Mithun overstepped by a big margin on his very next delivery. It’s unusual for a bowler to overstep by such a big margin and, thus, netizens are now claiming it to be an incident of spot-fixing.

The batter managed to muster only 2 runs off that no-ball, however, it did raise quite of few eyebrows. The incident also reminded people of M Amir, who bowled such big no-balls back in 2010 during the England tour. Later, the Pakistani bowler was found guilty of spot-fixing.

Abhimanyu Mithun is a right-arm fast bowler, who first made headlines after being called for the India squad against South Africa only 10 weeks after making his first-class debut. Though, he couldn’t do anything substantial for his country.

In total, he has played 5 ODIs and 4 T20Is, picking 3 and 9 wickets, respectively. Mithun has spent a good amount of time with the likes of MS Dhoni, Rahul Dravid, and Sachin Tendulkar, to name a few.

Talking about the game, Chennai Braves won it by 5 wickets. They restricted the Northern Warriors by 106 runs in 10 overs. Hazratullah Zazai top-scored with 54, while Adam Hose played an unbeaten cameo of 24 off 10.

The Warriors then chased down the total with 2 balls remaining. The likes of Stephen Eskinazi (22 off 13), Charith Asalanka (22 off 16), and Sikandar Raza (27 off 10) came up with valuable contributions.

Abhimanyu Mithun bowled well for his figures of 2 for 11 in 2 overs, however, he couldn’t help his team win the game, in the end.

The fans are unhappy with Mithun’s antics on the field and are now accusing him of doing spot-fixing. Here’s a look at some of the reactions:
