Shubman Gill, recently appointed captain of Gujarat Titans, is in high spirits ahead of the upcoming series against South Africa. Expressing his excitement about the challenges ahead, Gill is poised to leverage the learnings from his journey and strive for improvement in the coming year.

With an impressive performance in the recently concluded World Cup, where he secured 270 runs from seven games, Gill attained the top spot in the ICC Men’s ODI Player rankings before the tournament concluded. This year marks one of the best in his burgeoning career, signalling continued success and growth.

Talking to the media outlet, Gill said: "I'm going to be captaining Gujarat Titans. That's a very exciting challenge. And there are going to be a lot of learnings from that experience. And hopefully I can take those learnings and improve and work on myself based on those experiences and learnings. And hopefully, that is going to help me in the next year."

Talking about the year gone by, Gill mentioned that despite missing out on the most coveted World Cup title at home, he has had a great year. He also mentioned that the team is ready for the upcoming World Cup in 2024.

"It has been a great year for me. But having to miss out on that World Cup dampened the mood. Fortunately, we have another World Cup coming up next year, so we are all looking forward for it," Gill said.

The talented young batter from Punjab emphasized the pivotal role of hard work and consistency in his recent success. Acknowledging these two factors as key drivers of his achievements, Gill expressed his belief that players can attain great heights by maintaining a dedicated work ethic and a consistent performance record.

"Hard work and consistency is two things that I strive to be better at. And I think if you're working hard and you're consistent at working hard, you always get the things that you strive for or you always get the things that you want. So these two things are very important. I think for any individual," he added.

India are all set to tour South Africa to play bilateral sr across all formats. The Men in Blue will start their Proteas challenge from 10th December.
