Indian cricketers came together on social media to share heartfelt wishes on the occasion of the nation’s 79th Independence Day. The celebrations began with Prime Minister Narendra Modi hoisting the tricolour at the Red Fort in Delhi, setting the stage for a day filled with national pride, a sentiment strongly echoed by the cricketing fraternity.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) led the wishes with a simple yet powerful message, "Wishing all Indians a Happy Independence Day Jai Hind #TeamIndia | #HappyIndependenceDay." Joining the fervour, Indian cricketers added to the celebrations.

Kohli Sends Special Message For The Indian Army

Virat Kohli’s poignant tribute to the armed forces stood out among the flood of messages. Sharing an Instagram story, the superstar wrote, "Today we smile in freedom because they stood with unwavering courage. We salute and honor the sacrifices of our heros on this joyous Independence Day. Proud to be Indian Jai Hind," alongside a picture of the Indian flag and soldiers.

Sachin Tendulkar posted a picture of himself waving the Indian flag with the classic message, "Happy Independence Day! Jai Hind!"

VVS Laxman reflected on the sacrifices that earned the country its freedom while urging collective effort for a stronger future. "On this Independence Day, let us remember the countless sacrifices that won us the gift of freedom. Irfan Pathan highlighted the value of unity and the responsibility to preserve freedom, "Wishing every Indian a Happy Independence Day! Our freedom was hard-earned; our duty is to keep it alive -- in spirit, in action, and in unity. Jai Hind!"

Along with them, India coach Gautam Gambhir also tributed the nation with India's ODI skipper Rohit Sharma also posting to celebrate the joyous celebration that adds to the 79th time of India's pride.

This year’s national celebrations carried the theme ‘Naya Bharat’, symbolising the vision for a developed India by 2047. The Prime Minister’s flag hoisting ceremony, assisted by Flying Officer Rashika Sharma, was followed by a shower of flower petals from Indian Air Force Mi-17 helicopters.
