Legendary Indian batter Virat Kohli had a memorable outing last night, as his fighting fifty played a significant role in RCB's thrilling victory over RR in an intense IPL 2025 clash. Opening the batting for RCB, Kohli struck 70 runs off just 42 deliveries with the help of eight boundaries and two sixes. 

Virat Kohli Secures First Place In An Elite List

The half-century that Kohli slammed last night was his 26th in the format at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Thus, the talismanic batter created a new record, registering the most number of fifties at a single venue in T20 cricket. 

Most 50s at a single venue in T20s

As shown in the above table, Kohli now holds the record for the most fifties at a single venue, having struck 26 half-centuries at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. Veteran English opener Alex Hales follows him with 25 fifties at Trent Bridge, while James Vince, Tamim Iqbal and Jason Roy claim the third, fourth and fifth positions.

Virat Kohli Breaks Chris Gayle's Record During Chinnaswamy Classic

Virat Kohli also broke RCB legend Chris Gayle's record on the list of batters with the most fifty-plus scores in T20 cricket. While Gayle has 110 scores of fifty or more, Kohli brought up his 111th fifty-plus score with the glorious knock against RR last night. Currently, he is only behind David Warner, who has 117 fifty-plus scores in T20 cricket. 

RCB Break Home Defeat Jinx vs RR

After losing three consecutive matches on home turf, RCB finally broke the jinx, pipping RR by 11 runs in match number 42 of the IPL 2025. While the Rajat Patidar-led side is placed third with six wins, the Royals have their IPL 2025 campaign at stake after incurring seven defeats in nine outings.
