In the ongoing IPL 2025 match between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Rajasthan Royals at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, the hosts are off to a great start as Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal have set the tone.
The hosts lost the first wicket early on, but Kohli took the onus on his shoulders and brought up another fifty of the season. Notably, the former RCB captain took 32 deliveries to slam his fifth fifty of IPL 2025. With the impressive knock, Virat also scripted several feats and one of the most noticeable achievements was to go past his former RCB teammate Chris Gayle.

It was Kohli's 111th fifty in T20 career and with that he surpassed Gayle in the list of most T20 fifties and is only behind David Warner in that list, who has 117 fifties to his name. Here is the complete list.

Virat Goes Past Babar Azam In An Elite List
With the fifty, Virat also slammed his 62nd T20 fifty batting first and he went ahead of Babar Azam in that list to now have most fifty-plus scores in T20 cricket while batting first. Before this match, both Virat and Babar were tied at 61 fifties, but now Kohli is the sole holder of this prestigious record.
Talking about the ongoing match, at the time of writing this article, Jofra Archer got rid of Virat, who returned to the pavilion for 70 (42) and RCB are 156/2 after 15.1 overs.
