Indian batter Virat Kohli’s popularity knows no bounds. The right-hander commands unprecedented love and respect across the globe, courtesy of his batting exploits and his jovial nature.


Kohli gifts bats to Port of Spain museum

An instance of his popularity and adulation was the affectionate gesture from West Indies wicketkeeper Joshua Da Silva's mother, which became a viral sensation. In the video, Da Silva’s mother can be seen hugging Kohli and getting emotional on meeting the criketing icon which was visible in her tearful eyes.

The second Test match against West Indies concluded on Monday, and another instance of the respect Kohli commands in the Caribbean was von display. The match was memorable for Kohli as he scored his 76th international century and his first Test hundred on foreign soil since 2018.

After the match, Kohli displayed his magnanimity by autographing his bats and giving it to the Port of Spain Museum, a moment that took social media by storm.

With a commendable performance throughout the Test series, Kohli amassed a total of 198 runs across two innings, at a stunning average of 98.50 which included a fifty and a hundred.

Although a rain-induced washout of the fifth day led to a drawn second Test, India clinched the series victory thanks to their victorious start in Dominica, where they defeated West Indies by an innings and 141 runs.

Meanwhile, the cricketing world will be eagerly watching Kohli's performance in the upcoming three-match ODI series against West Indies. 

The star batsman, frequently hailed as a modern-day master, is expected to maintain his stellar form in a format where his numbers are mind-boggling. The first match of the series is set to take place on Thursday, July 27, at Bridgetown, Barbados.
