As if getting hammered by 79 runs wasn’t enough, Quetta Gladiators had another bitter pill to swallow after their clash against Lahore Qalandars in Match 4 of PSL 2025. Their young spinner Usman Tariq was reported for a suspect bowling action by on-field umpires Ahsan Raza and Chris Brown during the game at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Sunday.

Usman Tariq Faces Bowling Ban If Reported Again In PSL 2025

Usman Tariq can continue to bowl for now, as per league rules, but if he gets reported again, it’s curtains for his bowling until he clears an official assessment at an ICC-accredited lab.

Usman didn’t have a shocker with the ball. In fact, he has been one of the quieter success stories for Quetta this season. In 2 matches so far, he has picked up 3 wickets at an average of 19.00 and kept things tight with an economy of 7.12, pretty tidy stuff for a youngster bowling under pressure.

Even in the match against Lahore Qalandars, he sent back Sikandar Raza and ended with 1 for 31 in his four overs. But now, all eyes are off his stats and on his action.

Qalandars Light Up Rawalpindi

Lahore Qalandars were firing on all cylinders in this game. They smacked 219 for 6 in 20 overs, riding on a classy 67 from Fakhar Zaman, a brutal finish by Sam Billings (50* off 19 balls) and cameos from Abdullah Shafique and Daryl Mitchell.

In reply, Quetta’s innings collapsed like a house of cards. They were bowled out for 140 in 16.2 overs despite a flashy 44 from Rilee Rossouw. The Lahore bowlers were all over them with Rishad Hossain grabbing 3 and Shaheen Afridi, Sikandar Raza, and Asif Afridi picking up 2 apiece. It was a proper thrashing.

For now, Tariq’s fate hangs in the balance. He will be allowed to bowl unless he is reported again. But the pressure is on. The next time he rolls his arm over, all eyes will be watching, not just for his figures, but for his arm.
