The Uganda cricket team has had a challenging time in the ongoing ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024. They set an unfortunate record by scoring the second-lowest total in the tournament's history, getting all out for 40 against New Zealand in match No. 32 at the Brian Lara Stadium in Tarouba on June 15, 2024.
This came after they recorded the lowest total in T20 World Cups earlier in the same tournament, being dismissed for just 39 against the West Indies. Additionally, they were bowled out for 58 by Afghanistan.
Despite these difficulties, participating in the T20 World Cup allows Uganda to gauge their cricketing skills against the world's top teams, providing valuable experience and learning opportunities.
The Ugandan batsmen struggled to cope with the relentless accuracy and pressure from the New Zealand bowlers. Wickets fell consistently, preventing any momentum for Uganda.
By the end of the powerplay, Uganda was reeling at 9/3, unable to break free from the stranglehold imposed by the disciplined New Zealand attack.
This firm grip on the game allowed the Kiwis to dominate and eventually bowl out Uganda for a mere 40 runs.
