After months of waiting, Rohit Sharma, the former India captain, will be seen in action as he returns to the field in the upcoming ODI series against the Australian team. Questions have been raised on his form and fitness as Rohit has already retired from Tests and T20Is, and has not played ODIs since the Champions Trophy final.

Rohit's special training plan for Australia tour

Amidst all the chaos related to Rohit’s ODI future, the opening batter quietly went about his business in the last few weeks and started his comeback preparations with special training tailored for the Australian pitches.

According to reports by Revsportz, Rohit had spent a considerable time period at the BCCI Centre of Excellence (CoE) and worked hard in nets to counter the Australian bowlers for the upcoming challenge. His training sessions involved two hours of batting against the pacers, since fast bowlers tend to dominate the Australian soil.

Moreover, the reports also mentioned that on specific days, he would have multiple net sessions to keep up with the fitness level required to play a 50-overs game. The former ODI captain also did gym work, with light weights.

Pressure under Rohit to perform

Rohit was included in the India squad for the Australia tour, but his plans to play the 2027 World Cup could take a hit. According to the chief selector, Ajit Agarkar, Rohit and Virat Kohli will only be selected in the future ODI series on the basis of their performances and fitness.

He also urged them to take part in the Vijay Hazare Trophy as the tournament performance could be one of the bases to select them for the future tours.

The Indian team management has reportedly moved on from Rohit and Kohli, and if the opening batter fails to deliver against Australia, his place in the side could be under threat.
