The Asia Cup 2025 is done and dusted, and trouble has started to brew for the Pakistan T20I players. The batters failed to deliver the goods in the marquee event, and the players could potentially face PCB’s wrath, especially the T20I skipper, Salman Ali Agha, who failed both as a batter and as a leader.

If the latest reports are to be believed, then Salman Ali Agha’s place in the T20I setup could be in danger. The selectors and the management will back the leader in the long run, but the Pakistan board has its doubts about his capability in the game’s shortest format.

According to reports by Saleem Khaliq, selectors and Coach continue to back him ahead of the T20I World Cup ,but the board is concerned about his performance.

As of now, he will remain the T20I skipper, but if the performances do not improve, he could be sacked from the post and from the side.

Why Pakistan board has no confidence in him

So far, it has been a disaster for the Pakistani batter in T20Is. As a batter, he has failed to deliver the goods, and the numbers tell the story. In 32 matches, he has only accumulated 561 runs, with a sorry strike rate of 110. The selectors have given him a long rope, but he continues to showcase no improvement.

Throughout the Asia Cup 2025, Salman Ali Agha halted Pakistan’s batting momentum with his batting, and it disrupted their rhythm. In the Asia Cup, he accumulated just 72 runs in seven matches, with a strike rate of 80. Hence, while the selectors and the management are backing him, the board is unsure about him.

With everything on the line, Pakistan was expected to win the Asia Cup, but his tactical blunders cost Pakistan the title as India won the match from jaws of defeat.
