On Tuesday, October 7, Mumbai locked horns against Maharashtra in a three-day practice match ahead of the upcoming Ranji Trophy season. Notably, the match served as a practice arena for both teams.

The centre of attraction was Prithvi Shaw, who featured for Maharashtra and was playing against his former team Mumbai for the first time since switching bases. Shaw announced his arrival to the new team in style as the right-handed batter slammed a century. Shaw reached his 100-run mark from just 140 balls.

Shaw was on course for a stunning double hundred, but failed to reach the milestone as the 25-year-old fell on 181 after getting dismissed on 181-runs knock. As Shaw began to return to the pavilion, a massive fight erupted and Shaw lost his cool against former teammates.

A video has been going viral on the internet, where Shaw got in a heated exchange with several players and it looks like that Musheer Khan was the one who had said something which irked the former DC opener. Eventually, the umpire intervened and the players were separated to restore the decorum of the pitch.

Prithvi Shaw eyes India return

The recent knock against Mumbai will help Prithvi Shaw regain confidence as he was heavily criticised for his fitness and disciplinary issues recently. Shaw, who was once touted as the next big thing in Indian cricket, has been out of scheme of things since 2020.

However, the right-handed batter has a great chance to go into Ranji Trophy with confidence and also perform in the biggest red-ball domestic event in India to regain selectors' confidence after a long gap.
