In a thrilling Group D match of the T20 World Cup 2024, Bangladesh's young pacer Tanzim Hasan Sakib set a remarkable record by bowling the most dot balls in a T20 World Cup game.

The 21-year-old right-arm fast bowler delivered an exceptional performance against Nepal in Kingstown on June 17, leaving cricket fans in awe.

Sakib Surpasses Trent Boult's T20 WC Dot Ball Record

Sakib bowled 21 dot balls in his four-over spell, conceding just seven runs and taking four crucial wickets. His outstanding figures of 4/7, which included two maidens, played a pivotal role in dismantling Nepal's chase of a 107-run target.

This achievement places Sakib at the top of the list for the most dots bowled in a single T20 World Cup match, surpassing South Africa's Ottneil Baartman and New Zealand's Trent Boult, who each bowled 20 dot balls earlier in the tournament.

In addition to his dot ball record, Sakib's figures of 4/7 are now the second-best bowling performance by a Bangladeshi in T20 World Cups, just behind Mustafizur Rahman's 5/22 against New Zealand in the T20 World Cup 2016.

Despite conceding a single boundary and one wide, Sakib's ability to generate swing at a consistent pace of 135 KMPH kept the Nepalese batters in check, especially during an 18-ball phase where no runs were scored.

His impressive 3/18 against South Africa earlier in the tournament secured his place in the team. This latest performance against Nepal highlights his potential and cements his reputation as a formidable bowler in the early stages of his international career.
