Team India, on Friday, September 23 equalled their arch-rivals Pakistan's record of most T20I wins in a calendar year following their thumping six-wicket victory over Australia in Nagpur.

The win over Australia at Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in the second T20I was the 20th win for Men in Blue from 27 T20I matches played this year so far. Babar Azam & Co. had earlier registered 20 wins in 2021.

It was also Rohit Sharma's 32nd win as India’s T20I captain, and with this, he has now equalled Virat Kohli's tally of most wins as captain. MS Dhoni remains India's most successful T20I captain of all time with 41 wins.

Earlier this month, the Rohit Sharma-led outfit had accomplished another unprecedented milestone, winning most T20I matches in a calendar year. Team India's previous best record was 15 wins in 2016, but now they are way ahead of it.

As for the second T20I, the hosts registered a comprehensive six-wicket victory over Australia, courtesy of Rohit Sharma's brutal hitting at the top to level the series 1-1.

The India skipper hammered four sixes and as many fours as he single-handedly helped India chase down the target of 91 with four balls to spare in a rain-curtailed fixture.

The final and deciding T20I of the three-match series is all set to take place at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad on Sunday, September 25.

If team India manages to eke out a victory in the Hyderabad fixture, the Rohit Sharma-led unit will surpass Pakistan to become the team with the most T20I wins in a calendar year.
