County Championship Division Two Round-up: September 23

The Final Day of the three County Championship Division Two fixtures resumed on Friday (September 23). Here's a brief report on the action that transpired in Chester-Le-Street, Leicester and Cardiff. 


Durham vs Sussex

Sussex started Day 4 on 9/4 and were trailing by 288 runs. Nevertheless,  the contributions of Tom Haines (37) and James Coles (29) helped them get out of psychological pressure. 


Afterwards, Charlie Tear (24) and Faheem Ashraf (26) were the notable run-scorers as they were all-out on a total of 157. Ben Raine scalped five wickets for Durham.

Leicestershire vs Middlesex

Leicestershire resumed Day 4 on an overnight score of 13/4, and needed 262 more runs to win the game.  Soon, the dismissal of keeper Harry Swindells put them under the pump. However, the experienced Colin Ackermann and Tom Scriven added 34 runs for the sixth wicket. 

Ackermann made his way back to the hut for 80 of 156, courtesy of Sam Robson. In the end, Chris Wright remained unbeaten on 36 as Leicestershire were all-out for 194 and lost the game by 80 runs.

Glamorgan vs Derbyshire

At the start of the Final Day, Derbyshire were at 123/3 and trailing by 174 runs. The experienced Wayne Madsen was terrific to deliver a knock of 77 off 163 balls, while Leus du Plooy hit 66 off 111 balls. 


Afterwards, Anuj Dal (25) and Sam Conners (23) were the key contributors as they were dismissed for 273. James Harris and Timm van der Gugten picked three wickets each for the Glamorgan team.
