Former Bangladesh cricketer Tamim Iqbal has been discharged from the hospital after on the way to recovery from a heart attack. The left-handed opener had suffered a medical emergency just before the match in the Dhaka Premier League (DPL) on March 24, 2025.
Tamim Iqbal Future Cricket Career Uncertain
After undergoing an angioplasty and receiving prompt medical attention, Tamim's condition has improved significantly. Doctors at KPJ Evercare Hospital in Dhaka confirmed that Tamim is now in good health and has been advised to make lifestyle changes for a full recovery.
While doctors have expressed optimism about his recovery, they have indicated that a medical board will call in 3-4 months to assess his ability to return to cricket, leaving uncertainty about his future in the sport.
What Happened To Tamim Iqbal?
Tamim Iqbal suffered a massive heart attack during a match in the DPL. The 35-year-old collapsed on the field after complaining of severe chest pain while leading the Mohammedan Sporting Club team against Shinepukur Cricket Club.
Iqbal was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital following his collapse. Medical staff quickly diagnosed the issue, and it was revealed that the cricketer had suffered a heart attack. Emergency treatment was administered, and Iqbal underwent a successful angioplasty procedure to remove the blockages in his heart.
Tamim Iqbal's Form In DPL
Despite the health scare, Tamim had been in stellar form in the DPL before his heart attack. The Mohammedan Sporting Club captain had scored 368 runs in seven matches, with an average of 73.60 and a strike rate of 102.50, including two centuries. His form had placed him as the fourth-highest run-scorer in the tournament.
