In a significant development, Pakistan have announced a 21-member probable squad for the upcoming ODI series against New Zealand. The selectors will name the 16-player team following the conclusion of the Pakistan Cup.

Opener Sharjeel Khan, whose last ODI appearance came in 2017, has marked his return, while Khushdil Shah, who was in the scheme of things, has been axed. Haris Rauf and Naseem Shah, who were injured during the England Tests, have also made the cut.

Imam-ul-Haq, Shan Masood and Abdullah Shafique are three other top-order batters present in the squad that will be led by Babar Azam.

The squad also sees the inclusion of Abrar Ahmed, Aamer Jamal, Ihsanullah, Kamran Ghulam, Qasim Akram and Tayyab Tahir, who haven't played a single ODI game.

Meanwhile, leg spinner Zahid Mehmood has been dropped, whereas Shaheen Shah Afridi hasn't been named among the probables, as he is yet to gain match fitness.
