It’s really unfortunate: Dodda Ganesh on Dhawan's sacking from ODIs

Former India cricketer Dodda Ganesh shared his opinion on the selectors and team management's decision to move ahead of opener Shikhar Dhawan in ODIs, citing how it could probably be an unfortunate end of a wonderful career.
The outgoing BCCI selection committee gave Dhawan the heave-ho on Tuesday as India's ODI squad for upcoming Sri Lanka series got announced.
With Dhawan being in the scheme of things only in ODIs in 2022, his average of 34.4 and strike-rate of 74.2 did not do the 37-year-old any good as he found himself out of the solitary format he played in international cricket lately.
Here's what Dodda Ganesh wrote on Twitter:
"Does this mean it’s the end of the road for Shikhar Dhawan as an international cricketer? He was a mighty-fine ODI batter and won India many a games and tournaments. It’s really unfortunate if his career ends in this fashion."
After the 2022 T20 World Cup debacle, India are not in the mood to cut corners this time as the selectors shook-up the squads for the ODI and T20I series against Sri Lanka, starting on January 3 and January 10, respectively.
