In a significant development, India's T20I captain and veteran batter Suryakumar Yadav went under the knife for a successful sports hernia surgery in Munich, Germany. The talismanic T20 cricketer confirmed the development through a post on his official Instagram account. 

Suryakumar Yadav Confirms Sports Hernia Surgery

On Wednesday, Indian cricketer Suryakumar Yadav underwent successful surgery for a sports hernia in the lower right abdominal region. The swashbuckling batter took to his official Instagram handle, informing the development to his followers and fans. 

"Life Update : Underwent surgery for a sports hernia in the lower right abdomen. Grateful to share that after a smooth surgery, I’m already on the road to recovery. Can’t wait to be back," Suryakumar posted on Instagram. 

As reported earlier, Suryakumar had travelled to the UK to consult with a specialist regarding the sports hernia surgery after participating in the 2025 Indian Premier League edition. 

It's worth mentioning that this is the batter's third surgery in the last three years. After going under the knife to treat a troublesome ankle in 2023, Suryakumar had a sports hernia surgery last year. 

As reported by The Indian Express, the explosive batter will join the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru for rehabilitation after two weeks. 

Suryakumar Yadav's Exploits In IPL 2025

Hailed for his scintillating stroke play, Suryakumar Yadav had an outstanding IPL 2025 season for Mumbai Indians. In 16 innings, he struck 717 at a magnificent average of 65.18 and a blistering strike rate of 167.92. 

He finished the season as the second-highest run-getter, helping Mumbai Indians reach the second qualifier in the competition. Although Punjab Kings knocked out the five-time champions, Surya's incredible performance earned him massive applause from all corners of the world.
