Rishabh Pant and KL Rahul gained big on the ICC Test rankings for men’s batters after century blitz against England at Headingley. The Bangladesh cricket team will host Pakistan in a three-match T20I series in July. In other news, Sri Lankan bowlers picked up eight Bangladeshi wickets on Day 1 of the series-deciding second Test in Colombo.

Asitha, Vishwa And Sonal Reduce Bangladesh To 220-8

Bangladesh reached 220-8 from 71 overs by stumps on Day 1 of the second Test in Colombo. Opener Shadman Islam top-scored for the visitors with 46 off 93 balls. Mushfiqur Rahim, Litton Das and comeback man Mehidy Hasan Miraz also unleashed valiant 30s each after Bangladesh slipped to 76-4 at one stage of the innings.

For Sri Lanka, new ball pacemen Asitha Fernando and Vishwa Fernando picked up two wickets each, and so did debutant and left-arm spinner Sonal Dinusha.

Bangladesh To Host PAK In Three T20Is

The Bangladesh cricket team will host Pakistan in a three-match T20I series in July. The two teams will be facing each other between July 20 and July 24, and all matches will be hosted by the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur. The series will serve as a testing ground for both sides ahead of next year’s 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.

The Bangladesh team is currently in Sri Lanka in an all-format tour.

Rishabh Pant, Gill And KL Rahul Gain Big In ICC Rankings After ENG Tons

Rishabh Pant rose to number seven on the ICC Test rankings for batters after plundering twin tons against England in the series-opening Headingley Test. Opening batter KL Rahul, on the other hand, gained 10 rungs to secure 38th spot on the batting charts for his majestic 137 in the second innings of the match earlier this week.

Captain Shubman Gill also leapfrogged a slew of international stars to jump to 20th spot, while young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal remains the highest-ranking Indian batter in Test cricket at number four.

Harshit Rana Released From England Tour: Report

Indian fast bowler Harshit Rana has been reportedly released from the Indian team for the ongoing five-match Test tour of England. Earlier, the speedster was included in the Indian squad for the series as a backup player. According to a report by Sahi Malhotra of The Times of India, Rana did not travel with the rest of the Indian players to Birmingham for the upcoming second Test match next week, scheduled to launch from July 2 onwards.

NZC Release Men’s 2025-26 Schedule, To Host AUS, ENG, WI And SA

New Zealand Cricket (NZC) has unveiled the entire itinerary for its 2025-26 home international season for both, men’s and women’s cricket teams. For starters, the New Zealand men’s team is scheduled to host Australia in a three-match T20I series in October, before facing England in three T20Is and three ODI matches a couple of weeks later.

New Zealand will also host West Indies for five T20Is, three ODIs and three Tests between November and December 22. Furthermore, the ‘Black Caps’ will face South Africa men and women in tandem in a series of five T20Is next year in March.
