Former India cricketer Sunil Gavaskar has once again expressed his unhappiness at Indian skipper Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli after they were not selected for the upcoming Duleep Trophy 2024 squads.

The Duleep Trophy, a prestigious domestic red-ball cricket tournament, is set to kick off India's domestic red-ball season. The tournament, which is expected to commence on September 5, 2024, in Anantapur (Andhra Pradesh) and Bengaluru, holds significant importance in the Indian cricket calendar.

Several players, including Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya, and Mohd Shami, will be absent from this tournament. Bumrah, in particular, will be continuing his much-needed rest, while Shami is currently at NCA, putting in the hard yards to make a full recovery for the Men in Blue.

However, the ODI World Cup winner has voiced his concern over their exclusion, highlighting the potential impact it could have on India's performance when they face Bangladesh in September.

No Virat Kohli-Rohit Sharma In Duleep Trophy 2024

“The selectors have not picked the skipper Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli for the Duleep Trophy so they will most likely go into the Bangladesh Test series without much match practice,” Gavaskar wrote in his column for the mid-day.

Meanwhile, the four captains of the teams are: Shubhman Gill (Team A), Abhimanyu Easwaran (Team B), Ruturaj Gaikwad (Team C) and Shreyas Iyer (Team D).
