Sunil Gavaskar And Ravi Shastri Join Star-Studded Commentary Panel For Asia Cup 2025 In UAE

The Asia Cup 2025 is all set to begin on September 9 in the UAE and will run until September 28. This will be the 17th edition of the tournament, featuring eight teams, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, UAE, Oman, and Hong Kong, fighting for continental glory as they prepare for the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. 

The opening match will be played between Afghanistan and Hong Kong, while the grand final is scheduled at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

Fans will also get to hear from some of the biggest voices in the sport as Sony Sports Network has announced a star-studded commentary panel. Legendary names like Sunil Gavaskar, Ravi Shastri, and Virender Sehwag will headline the line-up. Joining them on the English commentary team are Sanjay Manjrekar, Robin Uthappa, Waqar Younis, Wasim Akram, Bazid Khan, Russel Arnold, and Simon Doull. 

The Hindi commentary panel will feature Sehwag, Irfan Pathan, Ajay Jadeja, Abhishek Nayar, Vivek Razdan, and Saba Karim. For regional coverage, WV Raman and Bharat Arun will be part of the Tamil panel, while Venkatapathy Raju, Venugopal Rao, Ravi Teja, and Gnaneswara Rao will handle Telugu commentary.

Gavaskar And Shastri Praise Team India Ahead Of Asia Cup 

India will begin their campaign on September 10 under the captaincy of Suryakumar Yadav, with Shubman Gill as his deputy. India legends have already praised the team’s balance of youth and experience. 

"As Team India steps onto the Asia Cup stage under the dynamic leadership of Suryakumar Yadav, we witness a blend of tenacity and experience steering the side. This squad symbolises the future of Indian cricket, diverse, versatile and combative," Sunil Gavaskar said.

Ravi Shastri echoed the sentiment, he said, 

"With Surya Kumar Yadav leading from the front and Shubman Gill mastering the art of youthful leadership as vice-captain, this Indian squad exemplifies the perfect mix of experience and potential."

Both Gavaskar and Shastri believe the Asia Cup will be a crucial test for this Indian side. They see the tournament as an opportunity for the players to prove their mettle and set new standards under Suryakumar Yadav’s calm yet aggressive leadership.
