In a recent development, India A's bowling coach helm will be taken by former India selector Sunil Joshi. The 1970-born, who also featured for RCB in IPL's inaugural edition back in 2008, was an all-rounder and specialised in left-arm orthodox spin.
With Joshi named the bowling coach, India A is ready to have great hands-on experience from a trusted ex-cricketer who also played for Bedfordshire in County Cricket during his earlier days. The ex-India selector, who announced his international retirement from cricket in 2012, was last seen serving as the bowling coach of the Punjab Kings since 2023.
Joshi Set To Strengthen India's Bowling Attack
Sunil Joshi is ready to bolster the India A team, who will face a strong Australia A squad later this month for two first-class matches and three one-dayers. While players like Khaleel Ahmed, Prasidh Krishna, and Yash Thakur will benefit from Sunil's mentoring, Manav Suthar, the left-arm spinner, will likely be the most benefited under Joshi's guidance.
Apart from Joshi, Mumbai Indian's assistant coach Atul Ranade has been named as the fielding coach for the India A setup. However, a source confirmed to TOI that both Sunil Joshi and Ranade were hired as coaches just for the Australia A tour.
KL Rahul, Siraj To Join India A
The Australia A tour of India will start on September 16 and will end on September 26, with the two red-ball matches taking place within this span. Both these matches will be played at Lucknow's Ekana Cricket Stadium.
It is also worth mentioning that while the India A squad features big names like Shreyas Iyer and Nitish Kumar Reddy, much to the delight of fans, KL Rahul and Mohammed Siraj might also be added to the squad for the 2nd red-ball encounter by replacing two players from the first match, as per BCCI's official release.
